Visiting Mediterranean Cruise Ports with the Carnival Sunshine - Happy Travels

I’m going on a cruise. But not just any cruise.  My dream cruise to my dream destinations…This April, I’ll be visiting four Mediterranean cruise ports on board the newly renovated Carnival Sunshine cruise ship!

The Carnival Sunshine !!!

I love cruising with Carnival Cruise Lines and have taken many a trip to the Caribbean on their beautiful ships. And while it has been feasible to save up for a Mediterranean Carnival Cruise itself, the airfare alone has stopped my plans dead in its tracks each time.

Well, not this time. Because Carnival invited me to attend a press trip to get to know the newest addition to the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet, the Carnival Sunshine, and they are covering my airfare.
It’s quite literally a dream come true for me!

I’ll be setting sail out of Barcelona, Spain right after my birthday in April, and visiting the following Mediterranean cruise ports
  • Marseilles, France
  • Livorno, Civitavecchia (Rome)
  • Naples and Messina, Italy
  • Dubrovnik, Croatia
  • and an overnight call in Venice, Italy
I was so excited when I received the invitation to cruise with the Carnival Sunshine that I fell off of my chair.

Yes, I fell off of my chair!
The Carnival Destiny will be undergoing a $155 million makeover and will then begin sailing as the Carnival Sunshine this spring in Europe, where it will begin a schedule of nine to 12-day Mediterranean voyages in April 2013.

I’ll be documenting are sharing with you all the exciting features of the Carnival Sunshine including:
The delicious Carnival dining options like Jiji Asian Kitchen, Carnival’s first full-service Asian restaurant; ShakeSpot and Java Blue Café where I’ll be sure to indulge in plenty of specialty coffees and sweets; a classic American steakhouse called Fahrenheit 555; and Guy’s Burger Joint, which I’ve heard from fellow cruisers offers the best burgers and fries ever.

The Carnival Sunshine cruise has a plethora of entertainment options to keep me occupied on my 9 day cruise, like WaterWorks which will showcase Carnival’s longest slide – the 334-foot-long Twister, as well as SportSquare, where I can try my hand at a suspended ropes course, a two-level mini golf course, and a three-level Serenity adults-only retreat with a waterfall, pool, oversized umbrellas, comfortable seating and of course, those magnificent sea views!

There will also be a wide variety of exciting lounges and nightspots for those nights when I am just too excited to sleep! I can’t wait to hang out at the new Havana Bar!

And I will definitely be spending my days by the RedFrog Rum Bar/BlueIguana Tequila Bar, two poolside watering holes offering frozen cocktails and draft and bottled beers! Hello, poolside relaxation!

Luckily, I’ll have my good friend Deb of My Fab Travels by my side to enjoy the fun and help share these amazing experiences!

I’ll be updating over the next few months and sharing photos during my cruise, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram and Twitter!
